Doing what you love

Many say that you should never tangle your passion with your day job. Others say that having your passion as your day job means you don't have to "work." What's your view?

My leaning is toward activities that I can do passionately. The more I like what I do, the less I'll fight with myself and the more I'll focus on the outside world.

If I'm unmotivated, then I'll fight myself in creative ways, like reading a hundred books on "habit building" so that I force myself to work. Or creating extensive todo lists to remember things about which I don't really care. Or being bitter with my friends and family because when I'm not working, all I can think of is how bad work is.

Fighting yourself is difficult because you're a formidable opponent.
